Room temperature
2008

Performance installation / Duration: 4 days
Video / Duration: 26 minutes

Room Temperature takes the form of a performative event during four consecutive days. A remake of the iconic Bulgarian film Toplo (1978) is rehearsed, shot and edited on location. The film follows the residents of an apartment block in the capital city of Sofia, in their desperate efforts to have central heating installed.

The space is transformed into a full size cardboard film set, recreating six interiors. Approximately twenty-five Bulgarians, currently residing in Amsterdam are invited to enact the main roles. Visitors of the gallery observe the process, and at times participate as extras.
